EPISODE SUMMARY
In this episode host Kelley Bonner embraces a problem that many black women share. Knowing how to opt out of being busy, or bothered all the time is not something that we as black women learned in school or at home. Many of us have grown up watching our Mothers and Grandmothers constantly remain busy. Our society and academic communities have programmed us into the belief that if you are super busy, that means you are good at what you do. In today’s episode, Kelley declares here and now that you can be great at what you do, while at the same time finding ways to schedule “Rest” for yourself, full and uninterrupted “Rest”. This episode is for you if you are ready to commit to finding ways to incorporate “Rest” into your life? Stay tuned til the end, to learn more about today’s homework assignment. You will be so glad that you did 🙂
The Black Girl Burnout podcast is dedicated to helping black women learn how to opt-out of the mentality of struggle while also learning how to opt-into the life of joy, abundance, and good health, which is their birthright. Burnout can manifest in a variety of ways, including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and a lack of accomplishment. It is totally ok if you are experiencing more than one of the feelings at the same time. Being able to fully align with your truth is a significant sign of strength. The ultimate goal of the podcast is to help women achieve Opting Out of Struggle.
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
Did you know that fear is often at the root of why you are keeping yourself in a perpetual state of being busy? Sometimes people keep themselves busy because they don’t want to deal with other issues that may be going on in their lives. Just know that it is totally ok, to give yourself a break. The truth is, you deserve rest in your life and getting committed to scheduling rest for yourself is even better.
