In this episode, host Kelley Bonner explores the concept of Opting Into Generosity. Did you know that generosity is often mistaken for self-sacrifice? More importantly, she thinks that when we make them the same, it can be very dangerous and harmful for us emotionally and spiritually and physically. This episode is for you if you are ready to learn about the kind of generosity that is centered in joy. Stay tuned til the end, to learn more about today’s homework assignment. You will be so glad that you did ๐
The Black Girl Burnout podcast is dedicated to helping black women learn how to opt out of the mentality of struggle while also learning how to opt into a life of joy, abundance, and good health, which is their birthright. Burnout can manifest in a variety of ways, including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and a lack of accomplishment. It is totally ok if you are experiencing more than one of the feelings at the same time. Being able to fully align with your truth is a significant sign of strength.
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
Generosity should fill you up. It should make you happy. It should bring you joy. It should bring you closer into connection with folks. It shouldn’t keep you further apart. It really does take work to learn how to redefine generosity, having it centered in joy. And to redefine it by giving generously to ourselves. We should also make a distinction between what I do see as this toxic self-improvement culture that really is just masquerading as selfishness. Let today be the day that you say NO MORE to all versions of the struggle.
