PODCAST RUNTIME: 16 Minutes
In this episode, host Kelley Bonner encourages you to Opt Into Nostalgia. One way we express joy is through nostalgia, by connecting back to the things that mattered as kids or to that childlike joyfulness and playfulness. A lot of things that bring us joy are connected to our senses. Listening to music and cooking are two very therapeutic ways to experience joy. This episode is for you if you are ready to learn how to reconnect with healthy moments of joy from your past. Stay tuned til the end, to learn more about today’s homework assignment. You will be so glad that you did 🙂
The Black Girl Burnout podcast is dedicated to helping black women learn how to opt out of the mentality of struggle while also learning how to opt into a life of joy, abundance, and good health, which is their birthright. Burnout can manifest in a variety of ways, including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and a lack of accomplishment. It is totally ok if you are experiencing more than one of the feelings at the same time. Being able to fully align with your truth is a significant sign of strength.
We have moments of nostalgia. Black culture is filled with humor in the triumph of pain, of fun and joy. So it’s not as if you need an education on how to necessarily have fun, but I want to encourage you to be more intentional about it. Don’t wait until like your annual barbecue to unlock wistfulness and nostalgia. Do it now. Do it today. Have fun. Crank up your favorite playlist to and from work and dance in your car and sing at the top of your lungs. Let today be the day that you say NO MORE to all versions of the struggle.
