Aug 7, 2023

Tune in Now:

I'm Kelley — licensed therapist, burnout expert, and host of the Black Girl Burnout podcast. I encourage black women to opt out of struggle and opt into our legacy of joy and accomplishment. Join me!

Meet Kelley

In this episode, host Kelley Bonner and her guest Mayyadda discuss the concept of coming home to yourself. Listening to music is one of the fastest ways to elevate your vibe. Music speaks the things we can’t express, soothes the mind and gives it rest; heals the heart and makes it whole, it flows freely through your soul. Connecting with a sound that soothes you, is a form of self-care. This episode is for you if you are ready to learn how to establish a pattern for practicing the kind of self-care that opens you up to a life filled with peace and joy. More, more, and still more is within your reach in 2023. Stay tuned til the end, to learn more about today’s homework assignment. You will be so glad that you did 🙂

The Black Girl Burnout podcast is dedicated to helping black women learn how to opt-out
of the mentality of struggle while also learning how to opt into a life of joy, abundance,
and good health, which is their birthright. Burnout can manifest in a variety of ways,
including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and a lack of accomplishment. It is totally ok if
you are experiencing more than one of the feelings at the same time. Being able to fully
align with your truth is a significant sign of strength.

Mayyadda is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Minneapolis who aspires to use her music to make people slow down, find themselves in another perspective, and feel their way towards individual and collective healing. with an eclectic mix of neo-soul vocals, folksy guitar, pop-style piano with trap beats sprinkled in for flavor, she likes to refer to her genre as, “BlackGirlMagic.”

She has been active as a recording artist since 2015, releasing six projects since then. Most recently, she released Try & Remember: the acoustic album, a continuation of 2021’s Try & Remember with acoustic renditions of some fan favorites and three brand new songs.

When you center yourself in wellness and take care of who you are, out of that comes everything. Once you embrace that struggle is not your birthright, and fully believe that there’s a way to get out of that mentality, it will be easier to receive that consistent self-care positions you to allow joy and abundance into your life. Let today be the day that you say NO MORE to all versions of the struggle.
