EPISODE SUMMARY

In this episode, host Kelley Bonner welcomes you to wholeheartedly Opt Into Reciprocity. All too often black women find themselves in a pattern of being more on the giving spectrum in work situations and personal relationships. It is totally awesome to be a generous person. However, this doesn’t mean that you don’t also deserve to also receive. This episode is for you if you are ready to allow a more balanced and healthy cycle of giving and receiving into your life. Stay tuned til the end, to learn more about today’s homework assignment. You will be so glad that you did 🙂

The Black Girl Burnout podcast is dedicated to helping black women learn how to opt-out of the mentality of struggle while also learning how to opt-into the life of joy, abundance, and good health, which is their birthright. Burnout can manifest in a variety of ways, including feelings of exhaustion, cynicism, and a lack of accomplishment. It is totally ok if you are experiencing more than one of the feelings at the same time. Being able to fully align with your truth is a significant sign of strength. The ultimate goal of the podcast is to help women achieve Opting Out of Struggle.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

Did you know that generosity and reciprocity are not the same thing? Did you know that expecting reciprocity is also about celebrating joy? Wouldn’t it be awesome to even embrace reciprocal family relationships? Listen, you deserve people to be there for you, just like you are there for them. Reciprocity is not always even, but it shouldn’t always be drastically uneven either. If you are ready to release the mentality that reciprocity is a form of greed, this episode is for you. By working through the exercises that Kelley suggests, you will be able to identify the reasons why you continue to allow yourself to remain in uneven relationships at work and in your personal life. Let today be the day that you say NO MORE, to all versions of the struggle.
